The Fair but Firm interactive training program is customizable to the needs of the organization. It ranges from a 2-hour morning or afternoon session to a 3-day comprehensive workshop. It is designed to provide concrete, practical information for caretakers, teachers, therapists, child welfare specialists, in-home service providers, residential staff, and others that work with children and adolescents with behavioral issues.
Fair but Firm training can help create an agency-wide behavioral model. Such a model enables workers to provide simple, clear, and concrete techniques to help parents learn to better interact with their children. The model can be flexible enough to include children with extreme behaviors and also more typical child and adolescent problems.
The Fair but Firm method is a time-limited protocol that empowers the parents. It provides parents with the skills they need to improve their interactions with their children and the overall quality of life in the home. It gives parents definitive actions to take rather than relying on persevering through very turbulent times with the hopes that things "will get better". It is adaptable to group homes, residential treatment facilities, therapeutic day schools, foster homes, transitional living programs, community service arrangements and more.
